Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Dexamethasone ........................................ 2 mg

  • Excipients ...................................................... q.s. to 1 ml


Pharmacological Class

Corticosteroid (Glucocorticoid)


Indications

VETADEX® Injection is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory, allergic, and shock-related conditions in animals, including:

  • Acute and chronic inflammatory conditions

  • Allergic reactions and hypersensitivity

  • Anaphylactic shock (adjunct therapy)

  • Musculoskeletal inflammation and edema

  • Supportive therapy in ketosis and metabolic stress (controlled use)

  • Anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive therapy where indicated

Dexamethasone provides potent anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and anti-shock effects.


Dosage and Administration

Routes: Intramuscular (IM), Subcutaneous (SC), or Intravenous (IV – slow injection)

Recommended dosage:

  • Cattle, Camels, Horses:
    0.02–0.05 mg/kg body weight
    (Equivalent to 1–2.5 ml per 100 kg BW)
    Single dose or once daily for 1–3 days

  • Sheep & Goats:
    0.04–0.06 mg/kg body weight
    Once daily for 1–3 days

  • Dogs & Cats:
    0.05–0.2 mg/kg body weight
    Once daily for 1–3 days

Dosage and duration should be determined by the veterinarian according to clinical response.


Target Species

Cattle, camels, horses, sheep, goats, dogs, and cats


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to dexamethasone or other corticosteroids

  • Viral infections unless specific therapy is instituted

  • Gastrointestinal ulcers

  • Diabetes mellitus

  • Advanced renal or hepatic disease

  • Do not use during late pregnancy unless specifically indicated


Precautions

  • For veterinary use only

  • Use under veterinary supervision

  • Do not use concurrently with NSAIDs due to ulcer risk

  • Long-term or repeated use may cause immunosuppression

  • Taper dosage gradually if prolonged therapy is required

  • Use sterile injection technique

  • Keep out of reach of children


Withdrawal Period

(May vary according to national regulations)

  • Meat: Typically 3–7 days

  • Milk: Typically 24–72 hours
    (Confirm exact withdrawal periods according to local regulatory authority)


Storage

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze

  • Keep container tightly closed
