Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Procaine Penicillin G ........................................ 150,000 IU

  • Benzathine Penicillin G ................................. 150,000 IU

  • Excipients .......................................................... q.s. to 1 ml


Pharmacological Class

β-lactam antibiotic – Penicillin group
(Long-acting and intermediate-acting combination)


Indications

PENOMYCIN® Injection is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by penicillin-sensitive organisms in animals, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections
    (Streptococcus spp., Pasteurella spp.)

  • Mastitis caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria

  • Metritis and uterine infections

  • Skin and soft tissue infections

  • Wound infections and abscesses

  • Foot rot and lameness of bacterial origin

  • Septicemia caused by penicillin-sensitive organisms

The combination of procaine penicillin G (rapid onset) and benzathine penicillin G (prolonged action) provides sustained therapeutic blood levels.


Dosage and Administration

Route: Deep Intramuscular (IM) injection only

Recommended dosage:

  • 1 ml per 10 kg body weight, equivalent to:
    30,000 IU penicillin per kg body weight

Frequency:

  • Single injection

  • In severe or chronic infections, repeat after 48–72 hours as directed by the veterinarian

Administration notes:

  • Inject deeply into the neck or hindquarter muscles

  • Do not inject intravenously


Target Species

Cattle, camels, horses, sheep, goats, dogs, and cats


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to penicillins or other β-lactam antibiotics

  • Do not administer intravenously

  • Do not use in animals with known severe allergic reactions to penicillin


Precautions

  • For veterinary use only

  • Use under veterinary supervision

  • Observe animals for allergic reactions after injection

  • Use sterile injection technique

  • Do not mix with other injectable products in the same syringe

  • Keep out of reach of children


Withdrawal Period

(Subject to national regulatory approval)

  • Meat: Typically 10–21 days

  • Milk: Typically 3–5 days
    (Confirm exact withdrawal periods according to local regulations)


Storage

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze

  • Shake well before use

  • Keep container tightly closed
