Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Meloxicam ................................................ 5 mg

  • Excipients ...................................................... q.s. to 1 ml


Pharmacological Class

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
(Oxicam group – preferential COX-2 inhibitor)


Indications

NEXICAM® Injection is indicated for the treatment of inflammation, pain, and fever associated with acute and chronic conditions in animals, including:

  • Musculoskeletal disorders (lameness, arthritis, myositis)

  • Acute and chronic inflammatory conditions

  • Post-operative pain and inflammation

  • Mastitis supportive therapy in cattle

  • Soft tissue injuries and trauma

  • Fever associated with infectious diseases

Meloxicam provides anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects with improved gastrointestinal tolerance compared to non-selective NSAIDs.


Dosage and Administration

Routes: Subcutaneous (SC), Intramuscular (IM), or Intravenous (IV – slow)

Recommended dosage:

  • Cattle:
    0.5 mg meloxicam/kg body weight
    (Equivalent to 1 ml per 10 kg BW)
    Single dose or once daily for up to 3 days as required

  • Sheep & Goats:
    0.5 mg/kg body weight
    Single dose or once daily for 1–3 days

  • Dogs:
    0.2 mg/kg body weight on day 1,
    followed by 0.1 mg/kg body weight once daily if continued

Dosage and duration should be determined by the veterinarian based on clinical response.


Target Species

Cattle, sheep, goats, and dogs
(Use in other species only under veterinary supervision)


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to meloxicam or other NSAIDs

  • Gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding

  • Severe renal, hepatic, or cardiac disorders

  • Do not use in dehydrated, hypovolemic, or hypotensive animals

  • Do not use concurrently with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids


Precautions

  • For veterinary use only

  • Use under the supervision of a veterinarian

  • Do not exceed recommended dose or treatment duration

  • Ensure adequate hydration during treatment

  • Use sterile injection technique

  • Administer IV injections slowly

  • Keep out of reach of children


Withdrawal Period

(Subject to national regulatory approval)

  • Meat: Typically 5–15 days

  • Milk: Typically 3–5 days
    (Confirm exact withdrawal periods according to local regulations)


Storage

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze

  • Keep container tightly closed
