Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Gentamicin (as gentamicin base) ............... 100 mg

  • Excipients ...................................................... q.s. to 1 ml


Pharmacological Class

Aminoglycoside antibiotic


Indications

GENTANIX® Injection is indicated for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by gentamicin-sensitive organisms in animals, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections
    (Pasteurella spp., Mannheimia spp., Escherichia coli)

  • Septicemia and bacteremia

  • Urinary tract infections

  • Gastrointestinal infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria

  • Skin, soft tissue, and wound infections

  • Metritis and uterine infections

  • Mastitis caused by susceptible organisms

Gentamicin is particularly effective against Gram-negative bacteria and is used where rapid bactericidal action is required.


Dosage and Administration

Routes: Intramuscular (IM) or Slow Intravenous (IV)

Recommended dosage:

  • Cattle, Camels, Horses:
    4–6 mg gentamicin/kg body weight
    (Equivalent to 1 ml per 16–25 kg BW)
    Once daily for 3–5 days

  • Sheep & Goats:
    4–6 mg/kg body weight
    Once daily for 3–5 days

  • Dogs & Cats:
    6–8 mg/kg body weight
    Once daily for 3–5 days

Dosage and duration should be determined by the veterinarian based on severity and bacterial sensitivity.


Target Species

Cattle, camels, horses, sheep, goats, dogs, and cats


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to gentamicin or other aminoglycosides

  • Severe renal impairment

  • Do not use concurrently with other nephrotoxic or ototoxic drugs


Precautions

  • For veterinary use only

  • Use under veterinary supervision

  • Ensure adequate hydration during treatment

  • Monitor renal function during prolonged therapy

  • Avoid overdosing

  • Administer IV injections slowly

  • Do not mix with other injectable products in the same syringe

  • Keep out of reach of children


Withdrawal Period

(Subject to national regulatory approval)

  • Meat: Typically 18–30 days

  • Milk: Typically 3–7 days
    (Confirm exact withdrawal periods according to local regulations)


Storage

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze

  • Keep container tightly closed
