Each ml contains:

Ceftiofur Crystalline Free Acid
(equivalent to 50 mg ceftiofur)

Pharmacological Class

Third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic (β-lactam)

Indications

CEFTIONIX® LA Injection is indicated for the treatment and control of bacterial infections caused by ceftiofur-sensitive organisms in cattle, including:

Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD) caused by
Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni
Acute interdigital necrobacillosis (Foot rot)
Acute postpartum metritis
Acute mastitis caused by Escherichia coli

Ceftiofur crystalline free acid provides prolonged therapeutic plasma concentrations, allowing single-dose treatment.

Dosage and Administration

Route: Subcutaneous (SC) injection only

Recommended dosage:

6.6 mg ceftiofur per kg body weight, equivalent to:
1 ml per 7.5 kg body weight

Administration notes:

Administer as a single SC injection
Inject at the base of the ear only
Do not inject more than 15 ml per injection site
Do not administer intravenously or intramuscularly

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ceftiofur, cephalosporins, or other β-lactam antibiotics
Do not use in animals with known allergic reactions to β-lactams
Not for use in poultry or small animals

Use under veterinary supervision
Follow strict aseptic injection technique
Injection site reactions may occur
Avoid accidental self-injection
Do not mix with other injectable products in the same syringe
Keep out of reach of children

Withdrawal Period

(Subject to national regulatory approval)

Meat: Typically 13 days
Milk: 0 hours (nil withdrawal)
